  • An online guide to law in Mauritius

    The Guide to Law Online, prepared by the Law Library of Congress Public Services Division, is an annotated guide to sources of information on government and law available online. It includes selected links to useful and reliable sites for legal information.

    The Guide to Law Online is an annotated compendium of Internet links; a portal of Internet sources of interest to legal researchers. Although the Guide is selective, inclusion of a site by no means constitutes endorsement by either the Law Library of Congress, the Library Services Directorate, or the Legal Research Directorate.

  • Tropicscope

    Tropicscope is an independent travel guide on Mauritius with unique information from a Mauritius based team. Tropicscope made its own selection of guest houses, private beach villas and hotels of Mauritius, as well as places of interest and excursions, displaying fact sheets and links to Mauritius hotel websites allowing direct reservations of hotels and other tourism-related services.

    Tropicscope has two main characteristics:

  • A Mauritian-Australian Connection site for all things Mauritan-Australian

    The links between Australia and Mauritius span several centuries. Beginning with Abel Tasman in 1642, Mauritius was an important Indian Ocean base for exploration of Australia's coast. Trading links began as early as 1802. In 1834 the political firebrand John Dunmore Lang (1799-1878) wrote: 'The Australian colonies are at present supplied with sugar from the Isle de France (Mauritius).

  • Portal of the Republic of Mauritius

    The Government Sub-Portal provides comprehensive information on the various services offered by the Mauritian Government. This sub-portal has been designed so as to enable easy accessibility of information and services, ease of navigation and user-friendliness. This site can best be viewed on a screen configured for 800 x 600 screen resolution, but scales appropriately to both higher and lower screen resolutions.

  • Ministry of Public Infrastructure, Land Transport & Shipping

    The Public Infrastructure Division of the Ministry of Public Infrastructure, Land Transport & Shipping is responsible for the implementation of Road, Bridge and Government Building infrastructural projects.

  • Ganesh Chaturthi

    Celebrated on the fourth day of the lunar month of August/September by Hindus of Marathi faith as the birthday of Ganesh, the god of wisdom and remover of all obstacles. In Baie du Cap processions are held with devotees escorting pink, elephant-nosed effigies to the sea and dusting onlookers with scarlet powder.
