As you will discover, UoM is a dynamic and internationally recognised university with a long established tradition in providing excellence in education. During orientation we also encourage you to familiarise yourself with the Student Handbook and its contents. Please browse through the CD-ROM so that you apprise yourselves of all the rules and regulations of UoM .

The UOM Trust was set up by the Council of the University of Mauritius by virtue of a Trust Deed signed on 19 October 2006 and registered on 23 October 2006.

Transition to university is an exciting step in your lives but also one to which it takes some time to become accustomed. It is very important that you take the opportunity to get to know students from different backgrounds to your own. Orientation Week will acquaint you with university life, help you find your way around campus, and give you an insight into the university’s organisation.

Learning and studies are an important part of the preparation for your future careers, but you should not overlook the opportunities for other pursuits. The Sports and Recreational activities and organisations like Clubs and Societies are there to help you get the most out of your time at Reduit. Participating fully in university life, not only in lecture theatres and tutorials, but also the broader aspects of extracurricular university life will be most rewarding.

As part of your learning journey at UoM we will be working with you throughout your studies to help you develop other skills and attributes that will mould your personality as a whole. Specifically we would like you to develop your skills of analysis, critical-thinking, decision-making and communication, as well as an understanding of the social, environmental and cultural context of your disciplines. That is why work-based learning has been embedded into the curriculum and winter/summer courses introduced to equip you with more soft skills. When you graduate from UoM you will possess more than a degree. You will be an independent thinker, an effective problem solver and have the skills and knowledge to adapt to an ever-changing world.

  • Our Vision:

"Productivity and competitiveness perse are means to an end being that every Mauritian should be better off tomorrow than today. Better living results from a combination of productivity and social justice - productivity increase without social justice implies better living only for a few at the expense of the many; social redistribution without productivity leads to everybody being eventually worse off!"Source: "Laying the foundations for a Competitive Future" NPCC Agenda.

    Our Mission:

  • In 1932, first-generation Mauritius-born Edward Clark Oxenham founded the company that bears his name, and started producing wine from imported raisins.

The key turning point for both Mauritius and the Company came in the 1960s,when the country’s economy began to diversify into export-oriented manufacturing industry, and the Oxenham family’s first full-fledged oenologist graduated from the university of Dijon in France.
Today, the family counts no fewer than three oenologists, all from the university of Dijon.

  • Rotary clubs have two main roles. They are associations of professional and business leaders in their fields, who meet once a week for fellowship and to share their expertise and the benefits they enjoy with future professionals and less fortunate people.

As Rotary grew, its mission expanded beyond serving professional and social interests, Rotarians began pooling their resources and contributing their talents to help needy communities. The organisation's dedication is best expressed in its principal motto, "Service above Self".
