The On-Line Educational Centre was founded in 1980 with only two departments namely the Department of Science and Department of Agriculture. At that time the staff consisted hardly twenty academic and administrative staff including. At that time, the centre was specialised in Distance Education and was rooted in Atlanta. Today the centre has expanded to five departments - Department of Engineering, Department of Social Sciencesand Departmentof Law and Management and employs nearly 150 staffs including academics and administratives.

The centre is still offering services - Distance Education - but at larger scale. It has 5 centres all around the world touching the five continents. Moreover, it has a site and deals with the student audience online.

  • The Institute for Consumer Protection (ICP) has been setup in 1983. Originally,it started as a breastfeeding promotion group and later evolved as a full fledge national consumer protection. ICP has three distinct departments namely The Consumer Protection department.

    The Maternal and Child health Department also known as MAPBIN and The Information and Education Department.

    ICP is partly funded by the government and the other funding sources are its membership, sales of publications and project funds.

    The Environment Assessment division of the Department of Environment examines the environmental impacts, both beneficial and adverse, of proposed development projects. The environmental impacts are identified, predicted and evaluated. Hence, potential environmental problems are foreseen and addressed at the very project inception and design stage of proposed projects.
