Mauritius Radio Telescope

The Mauritius Radio Telescope (MRT) is a synthesis radio telescope that is used to make images of the sky at a frequency of 151.5 MHz. The MRT was primarily designed to make a survey with a point source sensitivity of 150 mJy. Its resolution is about 4 arc min. The MRT is a T-shaped array consisting of 1019 fixed helical antennas in the East-West arm (2 km) arranged in 32 groups and 64 helical antennas, four per trolley, on 16 movable trolleys in the North-South (880 m). There is a single trolley in the North arm. The North South arm is built along the old Port Louis to Flacq railway line.

Le Mauricien is a French-language newspaper, based and distributed in Mauritius. The newspaper, founded in 1908, is released daily and is one of the most read in Mauritius. The publishers, Le Mauricien Ltd., also publish Week-End, Week-End Scope, and Turf Magazine.

It is also the most colourful newspaper of the island with sixteen out of twenty-four colour pages. It is an independent newspaper with strong editorial content.

Radio Broadcasting in Mauritius started on a private basis on 9 August 1927 by one Mr. Charles Jollivet with a Medium Wave radio transmitter of 1 kilowatt assembled by himself, two manual record payers and a carbon granule microphone. The station was lodged at his residence in Beau Bassin and was known as "Radio Maurice". It was later transferred to the attic of the Plaza Theatre in Rose Hill. The daily programme consisted mainly of music and news and lasted for 2 hours.

The Mauritius Broadcasting Corporation (MBC) is the national public broadcasting service (Radio and TV) of the Republic of Mauritius and its outer islands including Rodrigues.

It was established as a body corporate on 8 June 1964 under the Mauritius Broadcasting Corporation Ordinance no. 7 (1964). Prior to that date it operated as a Government Service under the name of Mauritius Broadcasting Service.
