The Internet Society is a non-profit, non-governmental, international, professional membership organization. Its more than 150 organization and 6,000 individual members in over 170 nations worldwide represent a veritable who's who of the Internet community. You should be a member, too.

The work of the Internet Society focuses on four "pillars:" standards, public policy, education and training, and membership.

The objectives of the Internet Society of Mauritius are as follows:

(a) To propagate the use of Internet amongst its members and the public in general

(b) To promote the rapid propagation of Internet and its technologies in every sphere of the Mauritian Community

(c) To provide servicesfor organisational and individual members in terms of training and support in connection to Internet Technologies

(d) To advocate the use of the Internet to the individual and organisational members in their daily life

(e) To show the importance of Internet and its technologies in the life of the Public in Mauritius and elsewhere

  • Objectives of the Ministry

    • Formulate appropriate policies and provide the necessary legal framework for the development of ICT and its optimal use across all sectors
    • Facilitate, through the implementation of an E-Government programme, the provision of Government services electronically anytime anywhere for the greater convenience of the public

  • The Guide to Law Online, prepared by the Law Library of Congress Public Services Division, is an annotated guide to sources of information on government and law available online. It includes selected links to useful and reliable sites for legal information.

    The Guide to Law Online is an annotated compendium of Internet links; a portal of Internet sources of interest to legal researchers. Although the Guide is selective, inclusion of a site by no means constitutes endorsement by either the Law Library of Congress, the Library Services Directorate, or the Legal Research Directorate.

  • The National Computer Board (NCB), in collaboration with the Ministry of Information and Communication Technologies and the Ministry of Women's Rights, Child Development and Family Welfare organised a Round Table session on Thursday the 14th May 2009 at 9.00 am at the Swami Vivekananda Conference Centre, Pailles, to finalise the legal measures recommended in the Child Safety Online Action Plan. The round table was launched by the Hon. Asraf Dulull, Minister of Information and Communications Technology.

    Preamble:

  • Mauritius is now poised to become a cyber island and to serve as an info-communications hub in the region. The vision of an information society dates back to the early 1990s. However, recent top level commitment coupled with the creation of an enabling environment has given Mauritius a new impetus. It is Government's declared policy to make ICT the fifth pillar of the economy alongside sugar, textiles, financial services and tourism.

    Objectives of the Ministry

    • The Mauritius Institute of Health (MIH) is an agency of the Ministry of Health and Quality of Life. It serves as the training and research arm of the ministry. It is located at Powder Mill, Pamplemousses in the premises of the SSRN Hospital.

      The Mauritius Institute of Health aspires to respond to the needs of society through the excellence of its training programmes and through the provision of good quality operational research for health. These are carried out in co-operation with governmental, parastatal and international organizations, institutions and agencies.
