Getting There and Away By sea - Rodrigues Island in Mauritius
The ship "Mauritius Pride" runs regular trips from Mauritius. Tourists are not expected to go by ship and first class cabins are difficult as they are usually taken up by officials. There is also second-class. The voyage takes two days from Mauritius to Rodrigues but only one day for the return.

The MSCL was also acting as a ship agency to ships carrying cargoes for the account of the State Trading Corporation - a parastatal organisation responsible to import rice, petroleum products and cement.

  • Rodrigues is linked by air only with Mauritius; it has no international air services of its own. Two Air Mauritius flights with 48 seater planes are scheduled daily. The main aircraft serving the island is the ATR72 of Air Mauritius. There are daily flights to Rodrigues Island.

The journey lasts for one and a half hour and the plane leaves the island only forty-five minutes later after having landed. There is no refuelling and you can watch your luggage being loaded as you move to board the aircraft.

  • There are several good scuba-diving locations around Rodrigues, but there is no diving school or public-use compressor on the island, and you need a boat. The best dives are off Pointe Colon and Pointe Roche Noire, on the east coast, and off Pointe Palmiste, on the west. Baladirou, at Pointe aux Comes, is also a good spot. Cotton Bay Hotel has a diving centre which is also open to nonresidents. Henri Tours can also organise diving trips.
