In case of necessity local police stations can be contacted through the Police Switchboard, especially if you do not have the telephone number of the station concerned. Radio / TV
Broadcasts feature mainly French and Hindi programs, but also some in Creole, English and other oriental languages. We also have 3 private radio stations. Satellite television is available in french english and some oriental languages(canalsat et Parabol, TNT).

Air-ticket reconfirmation
Air tickets must be reconfirmed 72 hours prior to departure.

Banking Hours
Mondays to Thursdays 09:00 - 15:30, Fridays 09:00 - 1600. ATMs are available everywhere and are operational 24/24.

Shopping Hours
These vary from town to town but are usually around 09:30 - 17:30. Many shops close on Thursday or Sunday afternoons. There exists also fairs in some towns twice per week.

Weekdays approximately 08:30 - 17:30 and Saturdays 09:15 - 11:15

Post Office hours
Mondays to Fridays 08:00 -16:00 and Saturdays 08:00 - 11:45 Note: Stamps are only sold at Post Offices.

Newspapers
Most of them are in French but articles in English are occasional.

Driving
Mauritius is a left-hand drive country, with priority to the right. Visitors with a valid driving licence from their countries are allowed to drive during their visit to Mauritius.
