Our Church, Eau-Coulee Seventh-Day Adventist Church is located at Royal Road Eau-Coulee Curepipe Road Mauritius.Even though some may never be able to travel here to our local Church, you can almost experience being here through our reports, pictures and email correspondance.
The first missionary of this church was Br. Francois Dixe. He started a group in 1929, composed of his own families: BERTIN,DESPOIS,DIARAM, LESURVENUE,OZEER,PHILIS,ROUSELL,SARANGUE,VERLOPE,…..
At first, the Sabbath school was held at Sr Philis's place, then they were shifted and gathered at Br Louise's home place at Mesnil. Few months later they moved again at Br Manroue's place at Charles Regnaud, where fortunately Pastor Girou took the first steps that the church services should be performed at the actual location namely EAU-COULEE.
At that time the church was partly funded and built by our dear brothers and sisters. It was made of stones walls and had a corrugated iron sheets ceiling, but unfortunately it did not stand for long because of the cyclone in 1945.The church's members did not drop out but with love and bravery they stood up as one man to replace the iron ceiling into that of shingles. At that time, Pastor Veute was in charge of our church. Fifteen years later, three violent intense tropical cyclones namely Alix, Betty, and Carol hit our island of Mauritius, and it was really sad and catastrophic. The church's ceiling did not resist to the strong gusts. This did not discourage our beloved brothers and sisters, instead, with a team spirit and prayers they stood up hands in hands to replace the shingles with that of corrugated iron sheets, which resist until this day. Other changes took place in our church such as erecting a Sabbath school for children in the back yard, an indoor baptistery…….. And it was Brother Bigaillon who was responsible for the church affairs.
