Angler's Paradise
Serious anglers will love the superb deep sea fishing in Mauritius and big game fishing which is available all year around, although the best opportunities are from October to April. The water around Mauritius supports a healthy population of blue and black marlin.Besides black and blue marlins, anglers also catch: Tuna: Shoals of Yellow-fin tuna move in to Mauritian waters in March and April.( 140 to 200 lbs), Wahoo: They are prominent in September. Reputed to be the fastest running fish in the sea(they said to be the fastest swimming fish in the sea and are prominent in September), Sailfish: Literally flies through the air when hooked, in an aerial display of fury. (Around 100 lbs), Bonito: A smaller species of tuna(Skipjack tuna), and Shark: Expect Blue, Hammer-head, Mako, Tiger, Black fin and White fin.

The spectacular sailfish (around 45kg) remains a challenge for anglers because they do fly through the air when hooked in an acrobatic display fin shark; bonito, a small species of tuna and blue hammerhead, mako, tiger and black and white fin shark.
You can book deep sea fishing boats through most hotels. Boats are equipped with a radio and equipment for live bait and artificial lures. Large fleets are based at the Corsaire club at Trou aux Biches, the Hotel Club Centre de peche and le Morne Angler Club, both at Black River. The Minimum hire time is six hours and boats can be shared by up to three anglers.
