Airport

The SSR (Sir Seewoosagar Ramgoolam) International Airport located in the south of the island is one hour away by car from the capital.

The airport is managed by AML (Airports of Mauritius Ltd), and the airport intends to increase the number of shops as well as to improve the services available there.

Several tour operators as well as Travel agencies have counters at the arrival terminal to welcome you or to help.

There are several restaurants such as Le Village (self service restaurant) and Voyage à la Carte. There is also a bar "Le Bar du Voyageur" where you can have snacks and drinks while waiting for your plane.

VIP lounge (La Terrasse) can accommodate a hundred departing passengers offering light snacks and drinks. Guests are provided with: newspapers, magazines, flight information, TV, washrooms, smoking area, fax and free Internet access and photocopy service. A public relations officer will assist you during your visit.

DUTY FREE SHOPS

Two duty free shops, Mauritius Duty Free Paradise Co Ltd located in the departure lounge and in the arrival lounge, offer a wide range of perfumes, spirits, tobacco, chocolates and other refined products.

Made in Mauritius, in the departure lounge sells exclusive duty-free local products like clothes, accessories and spices.

Infant (below 3 yrs) : Free of charge
This fee includes access to AML VIP car park, Porter service, check-in facilities, luggage screening, passenger screening, and immigration procedures, all in a matter of minutes. This fee also includes the Lounge basic facilities.

This fee includes the use of AML/VIP Lounge and all the above mentioned basic facilities. For this fee, guests, should check-in at the main departure hall. Once the immigration facilities completed, passengers will proceed to the Lounge by the door situated next to the Mauritius Chamber of Commerce counter on the left just after immigration and security desks.

Air Mauritius Lounge is only open to first class and business class passengers flying with Air Mauritius and its partners.

The Mezzanine is reserved to the Business Class and can accommodate 100 passengers; and the other part of the lounge is for the First Class and can cater for 50 people. The lounge offers the following facilities: free Internet services, fax, satellite television, shower and magazines.

BANKS

On arrival, you will find banking facilities just before the exit of the Tour Operators' Hall.

At departure, banks and money changers operate in the check-in hall. However, there are no banking facilities after immigration and passport control.

In both the departure and the arrival halls, services are offered by the following: Barclays, State Bank, The Mauritius Commercial Bank , Shibani Finance and Thomas Cook. Furthermore, Barclays, Hong Kong & Shanghai Bank, State Bank, and The Mauritius Commercial Bank provide ATM services outside the arrival hall.

The customs formalities do not take a lot of time as well immigration formalities.

Taxis are easily available at any time.

  • Entry Requirements: Nationals of EEC, USA and most Commonwealth countries do not require visas for entering Mauritius. If necessary, visas can be obtained from Mauritian embassies and high commissions. If there is no Mauritian embassy or high commission in your country you can ask your travel agent to put you in touch with the nearest government representative. You must hold a valid and return or onward ticket. On arrival you must fill an entry form stating the address where you will be staying in Mauritius. This is very important, as no address means no entry.
