Strategically situated Fortis Clinique Darné, in Floréal is one of the leader and oldest, yet most modern medical centres in Mauritius, combining traditions of dedicated personal care and modern, hi-tech facilities. The Central Electricity Board (CEB) is a parastatal body wholly owned by the Government of Mauritius and reporting to the Ministry of Renewable Energy and Public Utilities. Established in 1952 and empowered by the Central Electricity Board Act of 25 January 1964, the CEB's business is to "prepare and carry out development schemes with the general object of promoting, coordinating and improving the generation, transmission, distribution and sale of electricity" in Mauritius.

The Ministry is responsible for local government administration coordination generally, with five Municipalities, four District Councils and 124 Village Councils. Over and above their own revenue-generating activities, central government grants are made to the local authorities to enable them to provide services and amenities at regional level. These include the provision of street-lighting, construction and maintenance of roads, drains and public spaces, provision and maintenance of bus shelters and traffic centres, organisation of sports and cultural activities, etc.
